Passports and Visas

To enter Australia, a valid passport is required as well as a visa (citizens of New Zealand require only a valid passport). You can apply for a visa at an Australian Consulate, Embassy or High Commission such as in Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.

Customs Regulations

Duty-Free Items: On entering Australia, you may bring in the following items duty-free (you must be over 18): 250 cigarettes or 250 grams of cigars or tobacco and one liter of alcohol. The value of other goods may total up to $400, or if you are under 18, up to $200.

Departure Tax:
On leaving Australia, everyone over 12 must pay a departure tax, which is $A20.
